Learn More“The classes have really given me a new lease of life.”
"Having had an arthritic hip for four years I decided that some sort of strengthening exercise was needed. I saw Dans advert in the local mag and took the plunge. I had a warm welcome and a great class, you do as little or as much as you can and there is no judgement. Dan explains each exercise and how it helps. 8 months down the line and I have a hip replacement, the consultant was surprised at the muscle tone which was down to Dans class and sheer determination. It helped me to recover quite quickly and I was encouraged by the Dr to keep the classes up . Went back for my first class after 6 weeks today and so glad I did. I would recommend Dans classes for all ages and ability. A great teacher with warmth and humour as an extra."
I’ve been going to Dan’s Thursday night Kettles, Strength and Fitness class for a couple of years now, and I can honestly say it’s made a huge difference to my overall strength and fitness levels. The class compliments my other exercise routines such as running and fits in well with my working week. Dan is an extremely competent instructor who takes the time to tailor exercises to suit everyone in the room, regardless of ability. He strikes that perfect balance between being encouraging and pushing you just the right amount so you keep progressing without feeling overwhelmed (most of the time ). One thing that really stands out is how generous he is with his time and equipment — he’s never in a rush and he’ll even let us use his kit so we can move up to heavier weights and challenge ourselves. The sessions are tough (I still hate tricep dips with a passion!), but they’re always varied and motivating. Despite the occasional exercise I’d happily skip, I keep coming back because the results speak for themselves — and I’m completely addicted to that amazing after-class high. If you’re looking for a well-run, supportive strength class that genuinely helps you improve, I can’t recommend Dan highly enough.
“I have been attending Dan’s classes for a few months now and have noticed a huge improvement in my strength, fitness and balance. So much so I am now going twice a week. He is such an enthusiastic teacher, he is respectful, kind and encouraging. I would definitely recommend his classes”.
I attend Dan’s kettlebell classes. He is very welcoming, encouraging and attentive and he tailors the exercises to suit people’s different abilities. The classes are never repetitive, always fun, but still challenging and I definitely feel stronger and more confident for going.
I originally met Dan when taking my Father-in-law to classes in Clun Memorial Hall in 2017. After my Father-in-law I took my Mother-in-law. I asked Dan if I could join the class, (though, then I was under 60) as I didn't have time to go home and return and just sitting and watching seemed wasteful. Dan being Dan of course said "yes" and I have been going to his class ever since. Dan is an extremely knowledgeable teacher, but as well as this, he is an excellent communicator, he explains WHY we should be doing the things he suggests, in a very gentle but clear way which makes changing entrenched habits easier and much more likely when we understand the possible long term consequences. Dan is passionate about exercise and is constantly learning, and this learning is continually passed on. He tries different ways of explaining things to hopefully give the lightbulb moment to as many of us as possible. He is never impatient and is happy to discuss things many times to ensure we understand. He is always immaculately turned out, he is also extremely reliable and very kind, no matter how poorly turned out and unreliable his sometimes ditzy students are. I am absolutely sure, that Dan's abilities are far and away superior to what is required by our balance class but long may he be oblivious to that!
I’ve been going to Dan’s HIIT classes for two years and have referred a number of elderly people to him on a professional basis (I work as a GP). The opinion of those I’ve referred reflects my own exactly: Dan is a highly professional, enthusiastic instructor who has an uncanny ability to gauge each person’s capability and gently encourage them to achieve their potential. It’s no exaggeration to say that Dan has transformed my exercise regime and helped me achieve the level of fitness and strength I had 30 years ago. Several frail, elderly people have raved to me about feeling more confident and sprightlier after attending Dan’s strength and balance classes and he’s also excellent with youngsters. I think that constitutes a huge recommendation!
