"I consider myself fortunate to be a participant in Dan Lewis's twice a week Strength and Stability classes. Along with a number of 'seniors' i take part in these throughly worthwhile exercises. Most of us have some form of mobility restriction and Dan brilliantly manages the classes to deal with those challenges. His level of expertise and individual consideration is of the highest. None of us feel inadequate, exercises are explained and it is no problem if there are individual challenges. It is not a competition. His skill at handling us 'seniors' is quite amazing and a club environment has developed. Don't delay - Join today (if you are able)"
Dan understands individuals of all ages and their specific personal training needs. He has a lovely sense of humour, is very attentive and gently supports, encourages and challenges in equal measure. He is extremely welcoming and creates a comfortable environment, therefore exercises aren't daunting and he makes it fun to achieve the goals set. I referred one of my patient to Dan to help her recovery from her health condition and pain management, re-building up her muscle tone and strength. She finds her personal programmed training hugely beneficial.
I’ve been going to Dan’s HIIT classes for two years and have referred a number of elderly people to him on a professional basis (I work as a GP). The opinion of those I’ve referred reflects my own exactly: Dan is a highly professional, enthusiastic instructor who has an uncanny ability to gauge each person’s capability and gently encourage them to achieve their potential. It’s no exaggeration to say that Dan has transformed my exercise regime and helped me achieve the level of fitness and strength I had 30 years ago. Several frail, elderly people have raved to me about feeling more confident and sprightlier after attending Dan’s strength and balance classes and he’s also excellent with youngsters. I think that constitutes a huge recommendation!
“Dan has been fantastic at working with Energize on ‘Elevate’, the community exercise programme to improve strength and balance for local people 60+. He always goes the extra mile to ensure that the classes are both safe and enjoyable, and we have had so much lovely feedback about him. He is very thoughtful of each person that attends his classes, and they have really shown to have an impact on both functional fitness for every day life, and also boosted confidence in those that attend”.
I originally met Dan when taking my Father-in-law to classes in Clun Memorial Hall in 2017. After my Father-in-law I took my Mother-in-law. I asked Dan if I could join the class, (though, then I was under 60) as I didn't have time to go home and return and just sitting and watching seemed wasteful. Dan being Dan of course said "yes" and I have been going to his class ever since. Dan is an extremely knowledgeable teacher, but as well as this, he is an excellent communicator, he explains WHY we should be doing the things he suggests, in a very gentle but clear way which makes changing entrenched habits easier and much more likely when we understand the possible long term consequences. Dan is passionate about exercise and is constantly learning, and this learning is continually passed on. He tries different ways of explaining things to hopefully give the lightbulb moment to as many of us as possible. He is never impatient and is happy to discuss things many times to ensure we understand. He is always immaculately turned out, he is also extremely reliable and very kind, no matter how poorly turned out and unreliable his sometimes ditzy students are. I am absolutely sure, that Dan's abilities are far and away superior to what is required by our balance class but long may he be oblivious to that!
I attend Dan’s kettlebell classes. He is very welcoming, encouraging and attentive and he tailors the exercises to suit people’s different abilities. The classes are never repetitive, always fun, but still challenging and I definitely feel stronger and more confident for going.
